BIOGRAFIE VAN FRÉDÉRIC FORTANIER
In het vroege werk van Frédéric Fortanier is een duidelijke voorkeur voor het lineair schilderen waarneembaar. Gefascineerd door kleur en tekenstift, koos Frédéric voor een grafische loopbaan, voordat hij zich geheel aan de schilderkunst ging wijden.
Zijn artistieke ontwikkeling zoals die ongeveer 40 jaar geleden tot volle ontplooiing begon te komen, toont ons een inventief artiest die de grenzen van zijn technisch vernuft opzoekt. Daarbij mijdt hij het experiment niet. Verrassend, veranderend.
Hij ontgint geleidelijk de ruimte die hij nodig heeft voor wat hem wezenlijk boeit: het grote gebaar waarin grote dingen in het leven kristalliseren. Groot zijn z’n bloem-motieven, groot zijn zeegezichten. Maar groot ook de kleine dingen die hij voor ons waarneemt zoals in de enkele treffende afbeeldingen van menselijke figuren die wij van hem kennen.
Werken bevinden zich in diverse bedrijfs- en privé-collecties in Nederland, Frankrijk en Zwitserland.

Dans la première période de la carrière artistique de Frédéric Fortanier on peut apercevoir une claire préférence pour la peinture linéaire.
Ce n’est pas étonnant pour un artiste qui, dès son enfance fasciné par la couleur et le crayon, a opté pour une carrière graphique avant de se consacrer entièrement à la peinture.
Son évolution artistique, comme elle s’est développée pleinement il y a 40 ans environ, nous montre un artiste inventif à la recherche de son génie technique. C’est ce génie qui lui permet de ´rimer´ son œuvre. Du reste, il n’évite pas les expérimentations. Surprenant, variant.
La technique est toujours la condition essentielle de sa transmission. Jamais la mode du jour joue un rôle dans son œuvre, la seule chose qui le lie c’est sa propre liberté.
Les tableaux se trouvent dans plusieurs collections privées aux Pays-Bas et à l'étranger, entre autres en France et en Suisse.

Frédéric Fortanier’s early work distinguishes itself by a clear preference for linear painting. Fascinated by color and drawing pencils, Frédéric choose a career as graphic designer before devoting himself entirely to painting.
The early 1980s marked the start of the development of his artistic talents. Since then, he has grown into a resourceful artist who continuously works on the frontier of his technical brilliance. He does not avoid experiments – his work is always surprising and constantly changing.
He gradually expanded his space to explore the essence of his fascination: the grand gesture through which the beauty in life materializes. Great are his floral themes, grand are his sea pieces. But greatness is also in the small things he observes for us, like in his few but striking portraits of human figures.
His paintings can be found in various private collections in The Netherlands, France and Switzerland.
