Alain VILAIN

Alain Vilain is born the 18th of February in Lille (France).
Lives and works in Saint-Leu la Forêt (outskirts of Paris).
He spent after 1970 five years in the Navy, which enabled him to know Black Africa..
Returning in Paris, he closed a durable friendship with the couple of painters Istrati-Dumitresco. Travelling in Romania, he saw in Târgu-Jiu the monumental work of Brancusi.
After settling in Paris, he attended the courses of the Art Academy ("Académies d'Art de la Ville de Paris") where he was attracted by the "construted art" ("l'art construit"), to which he remained true for about 20 years.
In 1978, he had his fisrt personal exhibition, in Bottrop (Germany) at the Quadrat Josef Albers's Foundation.
SHe is actually on the way to search other expression modalities.
Member of the "Salon d'Automne", he exhibits also in the "Salon Comparaisons", "Salon des Indépendants", "Salon des Grands et Jeunes d'Aujourd'hui", "Salon des Réalités Nouvelles", "Salon des Artistes Français", etc....
Distinctions : Médaille du Mérite et dévouement Français, Médaille de Bronze des Arts-Sciences-Lettres, Médaille de Bronze du Salon d'Hiver
