Born in 1930 in Paris, Pierre-Yves MACHENAUD lives and works in south of France near Toulouse.
Self-taught painter, he had to wait to retire to devote himself totally to painting.
His painting is figurative, using things, creatures and landscapes which are easily identifiable. But this symbolistic painting is also secret and meaningful, and needs an imaginative way of thinking to explore the different levels of interpretation. Each detail is important and nothing is left to chance in the creation. Even the double meaning titles themselves are in mind at the birth of painting and are, for the spectator, a key to encourage the first contact. Do not think these paintings are enigma : you just need some time to discover them."
