Juan Larramendi was born in 1917 in Vera de Bidasoa, a small mountain village in the Pyrenees, on the border between France and Spain. He attended the renowned Souvervie School of Art in Paris. He subsequently moved to Venezuela where he achieved great artistic success. Larramendi returned to Spain in 1969 and became widely recognized as "The Spanish Painter of The French School". Landscapes are his favorite theme. His style is Impressionistic, and one can appreciate a blend of influences: on the one hand, the great French Impressionists; and, on the other hand, the Caribbean colors and lights of his adoptive country, Venezuela. His works can be found in Europe, Latin America and United States.
