Présentation

The painting of Irina Kalentieva
Every artist has his own favorite topics and subjects. Some artists prefer fantasy worlds, which look as if they are inviting their spectators to enter into an exotic journey; some ?wants to concentrate your attention at the piece of reality, which has been stopped and reflected on canvas by the artist. On his paintings you will always find a bit of the artist?s personal understanding of surrounding world, his choice of beauty or unvarnished truth, the world full of peace or surprise. While observing the surrounding world artist collects its images and leaving behind insignificant details he tries to emphasize the inexpressible beauty of this world. Someone said that the true artist doesn?t create beauty, he only takes out all the superfluous things, which prevent us from seeing it.
There is a kind of nostalgic feeling inside Irina Kalentieva?s paintings, a pity for the years that passed away, when people were calm, had peace with themselves and harmony with the surrounding world.

The contemporary man is deprived not only from this feeling of harmony, but he doesn?t even have the possibility to realize what does he loose in a senseless bustle. That is possibly why she dips her characters into the interiors of the passed epochs, time when man hasn?t lost his ability for contemplation, but still we can easily recognize in them our contemporaries.

Her paintings are full of silent joy energy, happiness, kindness and comfort, beside that they are quite and perfectly suite to the interiors. The easy play between purple and ochre tones, the fabulous scale of gray and light blue creates sometimes a light feeling of sadness and contemplation. Her method of making strokes looks like it was specially created for painting a fleeting beauty of child and women images. She has chosen a classic method of painting to be her personal style. She finds the most difficult color solutions for her paintings so, that it is almost impossible to find out which colors has she used to get these tints of color. Sometimes she reaches an unbelievable play between the colors by applying thick strokes in different directions. When lighting hits the surface of the painting it creates a fine play between different tones. We have introduced at our exhibition those paintings, which she has made during several years of her creative life. Besides these works we have decided to show you several sketches, which reveal the uncommon skill of the artist.
