Marcelino HERRANZ ALVAREZ

 Born in 1956, in Vigo,Spain

     "When I was a child I live here. I like to paint but later I studied to be a doctor
I work like pediatrician
1989-93 : I began to paint.
I felt that there were a lot of difference between the things I like to paint and that I really could paint.
1994 : I came to live to Barcelona. I decide seriously to paint. I took the yellow pages and I phoned all teachers IŽve found. I look for someone who was serious, not teaching to bored people. And I found Manuel Sanchez Almendros, my teacher. He likes Velazquez, Hopper, Caravaggio, Tiziano. He told us, when you paint: You must tell what you like. DonŽt be afraid. The view point is a personal one. All the picture must tell something. Empty space too. A picture must tells allawys what is it, freely of workŽs time. Watch, think and paint. Light. Colour, as you like. Wark. To paste. Substance. More paint.
I like it very much.

     Now I am painting what I like and I hope painting will be my first work.
When I paint I think what I like to say, I look for some image in my mind, the matter and the perspective. Then, I think about light. I draw, I take photographs and with my PC it comes to the black and white model. Then I paint freely about it and the colours come.
Sometimes I lose sight to what IŽd like to "say". Then I give up "the picture" and begin another one. I have "the picture" in my mind, "he" flights around. Suddenly I enjoy with "him" and I paint "him" once for all. The fight and the picture is finished.
