Throughout her childhood had the fortune to live in some lighthouses during school vacations since her father was a marine (lighthouse keeper). Growing up, she always loved creating things by sewing, kneeting, wood building and drawing. Influenced by popular expressions such us music, street theatre, poetry and a wide range of urban imagery, Amaru developed her own visual language charged with symbols and visual metaphores. Academic training in Visual and Theatre Arts in Chile and United States provided her with a unique experience rich in cultural and social diversity. Currently Amaru works as a full time painter in Chile.
